Where will the system be placed?

Do you have a tilted or a flat roof?

Specify the location by typing your address or clicking on the map. The location has to be within the Netherlands. The location is only used to obtain the sunlight data needed for the calculations.

How many solar panels do you need?

We estimate the amount of solar panels you need from your yearly electricity use. The average electricity use in the Netherlands is around 3000 kWh per year. You don't know your use? Select "I don't know" and continue with the next step.

What does your roof look like?

A south orientated roof is the most optimal. Differently orientated roofs are also suitable, although the electricity production will be lower. The tilt angle of the roof defines the tilt of the solar panels. An optimal value typically is between 10 and 30 degrees, depending on the orientation of the roof. On a flat roof, there are many ways to place the PV modules. For the Netherlands, the most optimal way typically is a tilt angle around 35 to 40 degrees and a southwards orientation. The Rooftop Scan uses this optimal configuration for flat roof calculations, unless specified elsewise.
